Altering the barometric altimeter settings (Auto Calibration and Barometric Plot) on the device will alter the way pressure and elevation are calculated and reported. The table below shows how the settings effect the readings.

GPS ON:

Fixed Variable
Altimeter Elevation is equal to GPS elevation Elevation changes with changes in ambient pressure and GPS position
Barometer Barometric pressure changes with changes in ambient pressure and with changes in GPS position Barometric pressure changes with changes in ambient pressure and GPS position

GPS OFF:

  Fixed Variable
Altimeter Barometric pressure changes with changes in ambient pressure Elevation changes with changes in ambient pressure. Calculations use a calibrated pressure
Barometer

Barometric pressure changes with changes in ambient pressure

Calculations use a calibrated altitude that is separate from the calibrated altitude used in
elevation calculations.

Barometric pressure changes with changes in ambient pressure, calculations use the calibrated altitudeIt is separate from the current elevation value.

It is separate from the current elevation value.

Utilizing the above table will assist you in choosing the appropriate settings.
