Several factors can prevent a Mac computer from recognizing a Garmin USB device. Check the following items to allow proper communication from the Mac to the Garmin device:

  • Ensure the Mac computer meets the minimum Mac OS X requirements for the computer. As a general rule, Mac OS X 10.7 and higher with an Intel-based processor is recommended for Garmin software
  • Check the device and physical connection
  • Some older Garmin mode devices may need to be updated on a Windows computer using WebUpdater before the Mac will detect it
  • Try connecting the Garmin USB device to another computer

The Garmin USB device should now be detected by the Mac computer. If the Garmin device is still not recognized, contact Product Support.
