Garmin Express backs up fitness data from devices that transmit via ANT onto the computer after uploading to Garmin Connect. Activities are stored locally on the computer. Locally stored data will apply to new data successfully uploaded to Garmin Connect. If data fails to load to Garmin Connect or is duplicated it will not store.

Windows:

  1. Open Garmin Express
  2. Click on Gear icon in upper right hand corner of application window
  3. Click on "Check for Application Updates" under About Garmin Express

If an update is available, wait for the download to finish and click Install Now.

Mac:

  1. Open Garmin Express
  2. Click on Garmin Express in Menu bar
  3. Click on About Garmin Express
  4. In new window, click Check for Application Updates

If an update is available, wait for the download to finish and click Install Now.

The fitness data will now be stored on the computer in these locations:

Windows Vista, 7, 8:

C:\ProgramData1\Garmin\GarminConnect\Device-UnitID\Upload\FIT_TYPE_4

Mac OS 10.7 and higher:

~user/Library2/Application Support/Garmin/GarminConnect/Device-UnitID/Upload/FIT_TYPE_4

Once updated, the fitness data will now be stored after a successful upload.
