Issues with Garmin Express are usually attributed to out-of-date software, the device configuration data, or communication with the device.

To resolve most issues with Garmin Express:

  • Ensure the computer meets the minimum system requirements by reviewing the FAQ: What are the minimum system requirements for Garmin Express?
  • Connect the device to a USB port directly on the back or side of the computer. Avoid using external USB hubs, USB extension cables, or USB ports on the keyboard or monitor
  • Ensure that the USB cable is a data transfer cable. USB charging cables do not allow Express to communicate with the device
  • Ensure that Garmin Express is up to date

    • PC
      1. Open Garmin Express

      2. Click the appropriate device on the Home screen (click the Home icon first if needed)
