Pairing Instructions for Alpha App Compatible Dog Tracking Handhelds

This article contains pairing instructions for each Garmin dog tracking handheld that is compatible with the Alpha® app. Choose your device from the list below for detailed instructions.

Alpha 10 Dog Tracking Handheld

Instructions for pairing will vary slightly depending on whether or not you have used the Garmin Explore™ or Alpha app previously.

First Time Users

  1. Install and open the Garmin Alpha app.

  2. Tap Next after reading and agreeing to the EULA.

  3. Below the sign in option, select Create One and follow the prompts to create an account.

  4. Select Pair Device..

  5. Select your Alpha 10 from the list.

  6. On the Alpha 10 handheld, pressthe Menu button.

  7. Select Setup.

  8. Select Phone.

  9. Select Continue.

  10. Ensure Status is On, then select Pair Phone.

  11. In the Alpha app, select the Alpha 10 and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The Alpha handheld will now be paired with the Alpha app.

Existing Alpha App Users

  1. Open the Alpha app.

    • If prompted, read and agree to EULA, and sign in.

  2. Select Watch and Handheld Icon Devices.

  3. Select either Pair Device or + if you already have a Garmin device paired..

  4. Select your Alpha 10 from the list.

  5. On the Alpha 10 handheld, pressthe Menu button.

  6. Select Setup.

  7. Select Phone.

  8. Select Continue.

  9. Ensure Status is On, then select Pair Phone.

  10. In the Alpha app, select the Alpha 10 and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The Alpha handheld will now be paired with the Alpha app.

Alpha 200, Alpha 200i, Alpha 200 Plus, Alpha 300, and Alpha 300i Dog Tracking Handhelds

Instructions for pairing will vary slightly depending on whether or not you have used the Garmin Explore™ or Alpha app previously.

First Time Users

  1. Install and open the Alpha app.

  2. Tap Next after reading and agreeing to the EULA.

  3. Below the sign in option, select Create One and follow the prompts to create an account.

  4. Select Pair Device.

  5. Select your specific Alpha model from the list.

  6. From the main menu on the Alpha, scroll left and select Setup.

  7. Select Bluetooth.

  8. Select Continue.

  9. In the Alpha app, select the Alpha handheld and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The Alpha handheld will now be paired with the Alpha app.

Existing Alpha Mobile App Users

  1. Open the Alpha app.

    • If prompted, read and agree to EULA, and sign in.

  2. Select Watch and Handheld Icon Devices.

  3. Select either Pair Device or + if you already have a Garmin device paired.

  4. Select your specific Alpha model from the list.

  5. From the main menu on the Alpha, scroll left and select Setup.

  6. Select Bluetooth.

  7. Select Continue.

  8. In the Alpha app, select the Alpha handheld and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The Alpha handheld will now be paired with the Alpha app.

PRO 550 Plus Dog Tracking Handheld

Instructions for pairing will vary slightly depending on whether or not you have used the Alpha app previously.

NOTE: In order to pair your PRO 550 Plus, a data connection is required and the app on your phone or tablet and the software on the handheld must both be up to date. First Time Users

  1. Install and open the Alpha app.

  2. Tap Next after reading and agreeing to the EULA.

  3. Below the sign in option, select Create One and follow the prompts to create an account.

  4. Select Pair Device.

  5. Select your PRO 550 Plus from the list.

  6. It may take several moments for the app to find the handheld. Once the PRO 550 Plus is found, select it and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The PRO 550 Plus will now be paired with the Alpha app.

Existing Alpha App Users

  1. Open the Alpha app.

    • If prompted, read and agree to EULA, and sign in.

  2. Select Watch and Handheld Icon Devices.

  3. Select either Pair Device or + if you already have a Garmin device paired.

  4. Select your PRO 550 Plus from the list.

  5. It may take several moments for the app to find the handheld. Once the PRO 550 Plus is found, select it and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The PRO 550 Plus will now be paired with the Alpha app.
