Dive Badges in the Garmin Dive App
If you own a Garmin Descent™ dive computer, you can earn dive related badges through the Garmin Dive™ app. Each badge earns a set amount of points toward user levels. You can compare and compete with your Connections through the Garmin Connect™ platform. You can control who can see your earned badges through the Garmin Connect platform - see Garmin Connect Global Privacy Settings for instructions.
Viewing Badges in the Garmin Dive App
Dive badges are awarded for completing specific diving goals and can be earned using a Garmin Descent dive computer. View your earned and available badges in the Garmin Dive app with the steps below:
Open the Garmin Dive app.
Select the
icon. Next to the Dive Badges heading, select More.
Select either Earned or Available:
Earned - select a badge to see more information about the requirements, the point value, and when it was earned.
Available - see all available dive related badges, point values, and information about their requirements.
Available badges can change, and some may only be available for a limited time.
I Was Not Awarded a Badge for an Activity I Completed
There could be a number of reasons why you were not awarded a badge. Not meeting any of the following could result in not earning a badge:
A Garmin device must be used when recording an activity or completing a challenge.
Manually created dives will not earn badges.
If an activity was uploaded prior to the date a given badge became available (viewable on the badge details in the Garmin Dive app or Garmin Connect app), the badge won't automatically apply to that preexisting activity. For example, an activity uploaded on January 1st, 2017 which satisfies the requirement for a badge that became available April 3rd, 2018 is not awarded the badge, because it was already uploaded to the Garmin Dive app before the badge was made available. If there is no availability date listed in the badge information, any qualifying activity will apply to the badge.
For badge challenges with a defined timeframe, you must both complete and upload the activity within the challenge timeframe. You must also enroll in the badge challenge during the specified timeframe.
The device must have the activity profile type needed to earn the badge (e.g. an apnea dive badge requires the dive computer to have an apnea activity profile on it).
The activity cannot be edited after upload to meet the requirements of the badge (e.g. the activity type cannot be changed).
Some repeatable badges have a limit on the number of times they can be earned by an individual.
