After reviewing trip data, select Save
Once saved, the activity will be located in the Main Menu under Recorded Activities.
The GPSMAP 79 series have a feature that allows the user to start and stop activity track recording from multiple pages quickly.
Use the Recording Controls feature to start and stop an activity, view associated data (such as elevation and elapsed time/distance), and perform a TracBack. The steps for both are below.
Activities are recorded coordinates (or breadcrumbs) connected and associated data (elevation, time, distance, and more)—the benefit of the device user to record and review activities.
The GPSMAP 79 series records activities automatically once the device is powered on and acquires a satellite signal.
It is best to clear previous trip data and turn off the automatic recording for better recordings. For steps, see - My Outdoor Handheld Has a Straight Track Line and Automatically Starts Recording.
Access the Map, Compass, Trip Computer, or Altimeter page
Press Enter
Select the desired option
Start starts the track log recording for the activity
Stop stops the track log recording and brings up the save activity option
Upon completing the activity, the user can save the associated data.
