If you are experiencing an error or Wi-Fi connection issues with your dash cam such as the following, see the common fixes and troubleshooting below:
Format the memory card at least once every 6 months, after saving any stored video you want to keep.
For instructions, see your device's Owner's Manual.
Replace the memory card periodically due to the dash camera recording continuously.
Turn off the device when your vehicle is not in use to prevent the dash camera from recording unneeded footage
This does not apply while using Parking Guard or Parking Mode. For more info. see Differences Between Parking Guard and Parking Mode Features
Use a memory card with a higher storage capacity.
Higher-capacity memory cards are overwritten less frequently and will usually last longer.
Use a high-quality memory card with a speed rating of class 10 or faster, purchased from a high-quality manufacturer and a reputable vendor.
When choosing a memory card, select one specifically designed for dash cams. These cards offer greater endurance and can withstand continuous read-write cycles. Additionally, they are engineered to handle the extreme temperatures and vibrations commonly encountered in a vehicle.
NOTE: Use only authentic microSD cards with thickness specs 0.7mm +/- 0.1mm to avoid slot damage.
Memory cards that may serve this purpose include those listed below. Before making a decision, it’s advisable to examine the manufacturer’s specifications and warranty to ensure that the product aligns with your intended purpose.
Brand | Family |
ADATA | High Endurance |
Samsung | Pro Endurance |
SanDisk | High Endurance Max Endurance |
Transcend | High Endurance |
Note that if a memory card is used in a way that is not recommended by its manufacturer without being specifically designed for it, such as use in a high-endurance environment like a dash cam, the manufacturer's warranty might not cover any resulting failure or replacement.

If you’re using wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, your phone connects to your vehicle via Wi-Fi. This can make it tricky to connect your phone to your dash cam’s exclusive private Wi-Fi for tasks like viewing the gallery, aligning the camera, or updating the dezl or Garmin Drive app. To fix this, temporarily disconnect Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on your car’s screen. This will free up your phone’s Wi-Fi to connect to the dash cam.
If you don’t want to disconnect, try doing these tasks when your Apple CarPlay or Android Auto system is powered off.
Dash cams without a screen may display a solid green light. This indicates the device is connected to a computer or another low-power USB outlet. The dash cam is not receiving enough power to pair with the Garmin Drive app.
