XD700/5v2 and XD1000/5v2 BandPass Mode Clarifications
In the Owner’s Manuals for the XD700/5v2 and the XD1000/5v2 it is stated that when setting the amplifier in tri-amplified mode, the “Input Mode” switch should be set to “2 Ch.” mode and use a stereo signal into Ch. 1&2 Inputs only. While this is perfectly acceptable, there is another way that may be more flexible.
If the source unit has a separate subwoofer output, signal can be sent into channels 1&2 as would be done normally, but can also send the subwoofer signal into channels 5&6 and set the “Input Mode” switch to “6 Ch.”. This will allow the user to control the level of the subwoofer from the source unit.
To summarize bandpass operation on both models:
If the source unit has only two channels of audio outputs, select the “2 Ch.” input mode and connect the inputs to Channels 1&2. If the user wants to have a subwoofer level control, the user can use the optional HD-RLC and set the “Remote Level Mode” switch to “Sub Ch”.
If the source unit has two main channels of audio and a separate subwoofer output, select the “6 Ch.” input mode and connect the main channels to Channels 1&2 and the subwoofer channels to Channels 5&6. This will allow the user to adjust the level of the subwoofer from the control on the head unit without the need to purchase the HD-RLC.
NOTE: The inputs on Channels 3&4 are not used when the amplifier is in bandpass mode. Connecting signal to these channels will not harm the amplifier, but it will have no effect on the system.
