Wrong Arrival Time on an Automotive Device
Your device learns from your driving habits and adapts its internal database to provide better estimates of your arrival time (ETA). This is done by observing what speed a driver typically drives on each type of road and using that data to compute the ETA.
The Arrival Time May be Inaccurate on your device Due to Any of the Following Reasons:
The GPS is in simulator mode.
Time Zone issues (incorrect time zone set, or not set to automatically change time zones, or the device is incompatible with time zone maps).
Daylight Saving Time preference is incorrectly set.
The usage or vehicle mode is not set as desired (e.g. Auto, motorcycle, pedestrian, etc.).
- Time Settings on the device does not have a checkmark in the box for Automatic.
- Instructions to change this setting can be found in the device's Owner's Manual.
To ensure that simulator mode is not enabled, power cycle the device and allow it to acquire a satellite signal. Steps to manually disable simulator mode can also be found in the owners' manual.
For optimal device performance, it is also recommended to ensure the latest system software is installed. For system software update instructions go to the Support Center, and enter the product name or the serial number of your device. Once your device is selected click on the Software tab in the left panel to open "Updating Automotive Maps and Software with Garmin Express." or "Wireless Map and Software Update Instructions".
