Updating the Cortex™ M1 Hub and Handset
Cortex® receives regular software updates. Updates unlock new features and functionality in Cortex, but importantly they address software performance. Updates are downloaded via the Cortex Onboard™ App via the Apple App Store or Google Play. See Related Content for detail on the latest software releases.
We often have customers with issues during the update, which are often only not allowing enough time for the update to complete.
Just to explain the upgrade process:
When the update begins, all the lights are green. This takes around 8 minutes from an iPhone/Android phone The device will upload the new upgrade file and the Cortex will then validate it
It's best to only have one device (iPhone or Handset) connected, not multiple. If upgrading from an iPhone, it's best to keep the app open on the update screen
Once the uploaded file is validated correctly, Cortex will then reboot. The LEDs will turn blue, starting with the GPS LED, then as the upgrade progresses all the LEDs go blue. This takes around 3-4 minutes
Once the upgrade is finished the normal boot process occurs the yellow/green LEDs will appear again
The total time should take less than 20 minutes. But typically around 12 minutes.
If there is an issue connecting, remove the NMEA 2000 cable and turn off/on the Cortex and try connecting again.
