Using PacePro on the fenix 6 Series
PacePro offers pace guidance to help you stay on track during training. When PacePro is applied to a course, it analyzes elevation changes along the course to calculate a pace strategy. A PacePro Strategy may be created using one of your existing courses, or you can search courses in an area1. The strategy calculates when to increase or decrease your pace along the course for the best overall pace.
Distance may be selected for PacePro, allowing you to select a race distance and pace or time to complete. In distance mode, elevation data is not used and goals are selected before starting the activity.
PacePro does not use previous activities like Virtual Partner/Racer.
Starting a PacePro Plan on the fenix 6
- Start a running activity on the watch
- Hold UP/MENU
- Select Training
- Select PacePro Plans
- Select a PacePro strategy plan from the list
- Press the START button

PacePro Course
Your Effort Timeline
Each PacePro plan provides a timeline of your pace throughout the race in a chart and table within Garmin Connect. In addition, your pace throughout the race is color-coded. You can view the color-coded intensity levels both on the chart and in the course map.
A PacePro course plan can be created in Garmin Connect or on a mapping watch.
Creating a New Course PacePro Strategy in the Connect app
- Open the Connect mobile app
- Open the menu
- Select Training
- Select PacePro Pacing Strategies
- Select Create PacePro Strategy
- Tap or click on Select a Course
- Select a course listed on this page to use a course already in your account, or select the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner to search for a new course.
- Follow the on-screen instructions for Enter Time or Pace then select Next
- The map will display the course showing which parts of the course to run slower or faster than your average pace.
- Pacing Strategy and Uphill Effort may be adjusted with the slider bars.
Creating a New Course PacePro Strategy in the Watch
Note: This option is only available on watches with preinstalled mapping.
- Start a running activity (Run/Trail Run) on the watch
- Hold UP/MENU
- Select Training
- Select PacePro Plans
- Select Create New
- Select a course
- Select Goal Pace or Goal Time
- Enter the target pace or time
- Press the START button to begin the PacePro plan
PacePro Distance with Goal Time or Pace
This option is similar to Virtual Partner, except that distance is now selected, and time or pace is optional.
- Start a running activity (Run/Trail Run) on the watch
- Hold UP/MENU
- Select Training
- Select Set a Target
