The Garmin Explore app acts as the go-between for the Garmin Explore website and the handheld device. The app and website are used to create, manage and view recorded user data, such as waypoints, routes, and tracks.
When paired and connected, the device, website, and app regularly communicate with each other. When the app is synced, it sends and receives user data between the website and the device.
The app may be the only thing used, but the website is the cloud storage for data synced from the device through the app.
For more information, see - Garmin Explore App Overview and Overview of the Garmin Explore Website.
Syncing With the Garmin Explore Website and App
First, pair the Garmin device with the Garmin Explore app. For pairing instructions, see - Pairing Instructions for Garmin Explore Compatible Handhelds.
When the Garmin Explore App is opened or refreshed, it automatically syncs between the Garmin Explore website and the paired device. It can take a few moments for both to be completed.
However, syncs can also be performed manually with the steps below. Syncing manually can be useful for sharing newly created data or changes between the Garmin Explore app, Garmin Explore website, and Garmin device.
Important Notes
Ensure the same account is logged into on the Garmin Explore app the one used on the Garmin Explore website.
The paired mobile device needs a data connection to sync to and from the Garmin Explore website and you must agree to allow Garmin to receive and store your data. For more details, see - Data Is Not Syncing From the Garmin Explore App to the Garmin Explore Website.
To sync to and from the Garmin Explore app, the Garmin device needs to be powered on and in range (about 10ft) of the paired mobile device.
