Red Light and Speed Camera Alerts Not Appearing on an Automotive Device
If you have successfully installed a Cyclops Red Light and Speed Camera region to your device, but the device fails to provide proximity warnings or displays error messages, you may need to remove and reinstall the download.
To Remove the Subscription From Your Device:
Windows:
- Connect your device to the computer
- Open Computer (on Windows 7) or File Explorer (on Windows 8, 8.1 or 10)
- If using Windows 10, click This PC when it appears
- Right-click on the device's drive once it appears
- Double click the Garmin folder
- Double click the POI folder
- Delete the .gpi file corresponding to your subscribed region
Mac:
- Connect your device to the computer
- Open the GARMIN drive on your desktop
- Double click the Garmin folder
- Double click the POI folder
- Delete the .gpi file corresponding to your subscribed region
Once the file has been deleted, ensure that the latest software is installed on your device. The Garmin Express application can be used to check for and apply software updates.
Once the device software has been updated, safely disconnect the device from computer to ensure that the update completes, then reconnect the device.
Next, sign into your account in Garmin Express.
To Install the Cyclops Red Light and Speed Cameras to Your Device:
- Select your device in Garmin Express
- Click on Tools & Content
- Click on the Purchased tab
- Click on the download cloud icon next to the Cyclops Red Light and Speed Camera subscription
Once installed, safely disconnect your device from the computer. The camera database should now be successfully updated.
Notifications for traffic or web cameras are not included. These cameras are not used by law enforcement and are only used for controlling traffic. These are often confused for red light cameras and will not provide an alert.
