Create, Edit, and Delete Lists and List Folders in BaseCamp
BaseCamp™ software Lists and List Folders are a way of organizing data, like routes, tracks, and waypoints, that are saved on your computer.
Lists and List Folders are found in the My Collection folder under Library in the BaseCamp™ program. When the List or List Folder name is selected, the contents can be viewed and/or edited.
Think of My Collection as the filing cabinet, List Folders are folders inside the cabinet, and data contained in the Lists are the paperwork inside those folders:
NOTE:There can only be one waypoint, track, or route with the same name in BaseCamp™. When necessary, BaseCamp™ software will automatically add a number to the end of file names to avoid duplicates in My Collection, even when the files are located in different lists or list folders in My Collection. For example, many Garmin outdoor handhelds will assign "001" as the default name of the first saved waypoint, "002" for the second waypoint, and so on. If you backed up three different handhelds in BaseCamp™ and each had a "001" waypoint saved on them, the waypoints from the second and third handhelds will automatically be renamed to "0011" and "0012" in BaseCamp™.
Creating, Editing, and Deleting Lists or List Folders
When working with large amounts of data, Lists can be used to declutter the map by filtering out any tracks, routes, or waypoints that you are not presently needing to view. Creating a List and adding the item you wish to edit to that list allows you to view just that one item while hiding everything else.
Creating a New List or List Folder
Select File.
Select New.
Select List or List Folder.
Enter a name for the new list or list folder.
After a list is created, the map view will be refreshed (reset) and ready for new routes or waypoints to be created or added to it.
After a list folder is created, new lists can be created within it or existing lists or list folders can be moved into the new folder.
Moving Lists and List Folders
Right-click a list or list folder.
Select Move To.
Select a list folder.
Select OK.
The moved items will now be found in the targeted list or list folder.
Adding Items to a List
Any items added to a list or list folder will be added to My Collection if it is not already listed there.
Click on and drag items to the list from My Collection, from another list, or from a connected device
Copy and paste items to the list
Click the target list before you create an item
The added items will now be found in the targeted list.
Removing a List or List Folder
When removing a list or folder, it is important to remember that any items added to a list or folder are also added to My Collection.
Removing a list or folder will only remove the list or folder, items in a list or folder remain in My Collection unless you select Delete Unique Content.
Removing a List or List Folder and Keeping All the List Items in My Collection:
Select a list or list folder.
Select Edit.
Select Remove.
The list or list folder will now be removed.
Removing a List or List Folder and Deleting All Items That Appear Only in the Deleted Lists:
Select a list or list folder.
Select Edit.
Select Remove and Delete Unique content.
The items will now be removed and deleted.
