Legal Restrictions for Garmin Radio and Dog Tracking Products when Hunting
Before using any communication or dog tracking Garmin product1 for hunting, it is important to check with your country, state, county, or city hunting laws regarding the use of GPS, dog tracking, and/or radio communication products for hunting purposes. Certain frequencies may be illegal to use in your state or country. Using a system in a country where it is not legal may result in the Garmin being inoperable until it is being used in a legal country.
- Example: Using a dog tracking product that uses MURS (multi-use radio service), like the Astro® 430 or Alpha® 200 dog tracking systems, is not legal to use in Canada. Canadian users will want to purchase the Astro 900 instead.
It is the responsibility of the hunter to know the specific hunting regulations for their state and hunting region. Garmin does not publish the hunting regulations for each state as they vary and can change from year to year.
Note: For Europe legal information regarding the Astro and Alpha series view our Tracking Legal page.
