Connections and Features on the Garmin DriveSmart 65/66/76/86 with Amazon Alexa
The Garmin DriveSmart™ 65/66/76/86 can be enjoyed by drivers who just want the essentials of navigation or by drivers who prefer advanced connected features. It has 3 levels of connectivity:
Without a Smartphone/Without an Amazon Account
You will enjoy all functions except these connected features:
- Hands-free phone call functions via the navigation device.
- Live services enabled by pairing a smartphone with the Garmin Drive app.
- Live traffic
- Live parking
- Weather
- Smart notifications
- Address sharing (available on the Garmin DriveSmart™ 66/76/86)
- Fuel prices
- Amazon Alexa skills and features, enabled with the Garmin Drive App and Amazon sign-in.
- Bluetooth connectivity to a Bluetooth-capable car stereo, enabled with the Garmin Drive app.
NOTE: Connectivity to car stereo CAN be made with an AUX connection, if present in the vehicle.
With a Smartphone/Without an Amazon Account
You will enjoy all functions except:
- Amazon Alexa skills and features, enabled with the Garmin Drive app and Amazon sign-in
NOTE:
- Garmin DriveSmart™ 65 with Amazon Alexa: Signing into an Amazon Alexa account (activating Alexa) is required in the set up process of the Garmin Drive app. There would not be any way to disable the feature other than to remove the device from the Garmin Drive app or disable the Bluetooth pairing between the phone and the device.
- Garmin DriveSmart™ 66/76/86: It is possible to skip signing in with Amazon in the Garmin Drive app to leave Alexa disabled.
