Automotive Device Showing an Address in the Wrong Spot
You may sometimes notice that your automotive device indicates that an address in the wrong location on the street, e.g. on the wrong side of the street or further down the street than it really is.
Generally, your device uses point addressing (door-to-door navigation) to ensure greater accuracy. In some cases, though, your device may be using logical addressing.
Logical Addressing
Assigns a general area to each address.
For example, if a stretch of road is known to contain house numbers from 100-199, the placement of addresses along that road is interpolated. This means that 150 would be placed in the middle of the stretch of road, even though it may be located some distance from the center since addresses are not always spaced evenly.
Point Addressing
Premium map feature where addresses are given a precise location, which provides a much greater arrival accuracy. Over 80% of the addresses in our North American maps are included in our point addressing data.
Note: Devices that are preloaded with maps other than North America use logical addressing instead of point addressing.
