Viewing Distant Points of Interest or Addresses on eTrex 10, 20(x), 22x, 30(x), or 32x
When planning an upcoming trip, you may want to ensure certain points of interest, or addresses, are available on your eTrex® 10, 20, 20x, 22x, 30, 30x, or 32x outdoor handheld before heading out.
Depending on what you want to view, there are a couple options listed below for searching another location than where you are currently located.
Search Near Function
The Search Near function allows you to view points of interest, such as cities, tides, or geographical points.
With routable mapping in your eTrex handheld, such as City Navigator® or TOPO 24K, you can also view gas stations, restaurants, hotels, entertainment spots, and other similar places.
- Select Where To? from the main menu.
- Press Menu button.
- Select Search Near.
- Select one of the Search Near options:
- If "A Recent Find" is selected:
- Select the recent find to search near.
- Choose the category of item to search for.
- If "A Waypoint" is selected:
- Select the waypoint to search near.
- Choose the category of item to search for.
- If "My Current Location" is selected:

- If "A Recent Find" is selected:
The eTrex will now provide search results near the selected location.
Searching for an Address
NOTE: Searching for and viewing addresses is not available on the eTrex 10 handheld. While other eTrex handheld models may have an option for Addresses, they will not be able to find addresses unless mapping containing address information, such as TOPO 24K or City Navigator, are loaded to the device.
There is no need to access the Search Near function before searching for an address, but the ability to search for an address on your eTrex handheld requires a routable map, such as City Navigator or TOPO 24K. It is also important that the map covers the area you wish to search in.
Depending on what maps are installed and which country the address is in, you may or may not be prompted to select a country, state, and/or province before entering the rest of the address.
