Why Am I Seeing the Message "Flashlight Brightness Has Been Reduced to Cool Down"?

Garmin® watches that feature an LED flashlight may receive the message "Flashlight brightness has been reduced to cool down". This may occur when the watch is operated in hot temperatures or during prolonged use of the flashlight.
