Missing Radio or Weather Information on Garmin Chartplotter
Some Garmin chartplotters can receive satellite radio and weather information from SiriusXM if networked with a GDL or GXM antenna. If there is no radio or weather information on the chartplotter, check the following:
The antenna must be compatible with the chartplotter. See Garmin Weather Antenna Compatibility
There must be an active SiriusXM weather and radio subscription. See Activating SiriusXM Weather and SiriusXM Radio Service
Power-cycle the antenna by unplugging the power cable, then plugging it back in
The software on the antenna and chartplotter must be up to date. See
The chartplotter must detect the antenna. See Finding the Unit ID and/or Software Version on a Marine Chartplotter/Sounder for steps to check for networked antenna detection
If the GXM antenna uses an NMEA 2000 connection, see the NMEA 2000 Technical Reference Guide to check for proper installation
The chartplotter must display the antenna's Weather ID and Radio ID on the device's software information page. See the owner's manual for steps to obtain this from the chartplotter
If the Weather ID and Radio ID are not displayed, and all other troubleshooting has been completed, the antenna may need to be replaced
If the antenna is connected to a power and audio module, check the module's status light:
Light Behavior | Meaning | |
![]() | Green solid light | Both the antenna and module are powered and detected. |
![]() | Red solid light | The module is receiving power, but the antenna is not detected or powered. |
![]() | Red flashing light | There is a problem with the module. Update the system software and check the connections between the module, power source, and antenna. If the module continues to flash red, replace the module. |
![]() | No light (turned off) | The module is receiving no or insufficient power. |
