Requesting Weather Forecasts With the Alpha 200i or 300i

The Alpha® 200i and Alpha 300i dog tracking handhelds are able to request Basic, Extended, or Marine weather forecasts for viewing on the device or in the Garmin Explore™ app. This article will cover how to request weather forecasts from the Alpha 200i and 300i handhelds only. For information on requesting weather using the Garmin Explore app, see - Requesting Weather Forecasts With the Garmin Explore App.

Important Notes

  • Updating a forecast may incur data charges or additional usage charges.

  • For more information about Basic, Extended, and Marine weather, see - Frequently Asked Questions on Weather for inReach®.

  • A marine forecast will be included for locations on an ocean or other large body of water, if available. If you are unable to get a marine forecast, select a location further from shore.

Requesting a Weather Forecast

  1. From the home screen, select inReach.

  2. Select inReach Weather.

  3. Select New Forecast.

OPTIONAL: Select Forecast Type, Location, or Marine to change any of these settings.

  4. Select Get Forecast.

The handheld will then send a request for the forecast. It can take several minutes to receive the weather forecast data. Ensure you have a clear view of the sky. Once the handheld receives the forecast, you can view the forecast at any time until all the information in the forecast has expired. The forecast can also be updated at any time.
