School Zone Alerts on Automotive Devices

Your device is able to provide alerts for nearby schools, as well as for upcoming school zones.

• Nearby school: A school is near your location.
  
  • These alerts can be disabled by following the steps below.
• School zones: The street you are driving on may be affected by special school zone speed limits during certain hours.
  
  • These alerts cannot be disabled.

There may be times when you will see a nearby school alert display on your device even when it is not during school zone hours.

An orange alert banner will display at the top of the screen and provide an audible chime under the following circumstances:

• During the posted school zone hours, if those hours are known; this information is included in the map data.
• Weekdays between 7 am and 5 pm if specific school zone hours are not known and therefore not included in the map data.

Currently, not all school zone hours are listed for known school zones. School zone alerts are available in some locations in the US and Canada.

To disable nearby school alerts:

1. Touch Settings
2. Touch Map and Vehicle
3. Touch Audible Driver Alerts or Audible Rider Alerts
   • Some devices require touching Driver Assistance first
4. Touch the box next to Schools to remove the checkmark
5. Touch OK to save this setting

The device will no longer alert you to nearby schools, however, you may still be alerted when approaching a school zone.
