Backlight Not Illuminating When Powering on Garmin Marine Device

Garmin chartplotters and Handheld devices can adjust the backlight setting or intensity level. After changing the backlight setting, when the unit is powered off, it will remain on that setting.

To change the backlight setting, repeatedly press the power button to scroll through the brightness levels. 

Garmin Marine Handhelds

Marine handhelds will conserve battery power when powered up in a daylight situation. The original backlight setting is saved and can be brought back up by simply pressing and releasing the Power button one time. Performing this will bring the backlight up to the original preset level again. Another tap on the Power button will increase the level further.

For example, brightening to 80% should remain at that preset level until it is changed again.
