SD Memory Card Compatibility for Garmin Dash Cam 45 and Garmin Dash Cam 65W
Garmin Dash Cams require an SD card to record video or take pictures because the device does not have any internal memory for storing files.
SD Card specifications for Garmin Dash Cam™ 45 and Garmin Dash Cam™ 65W:
Minimum Capacity | Maximum Capacity | Card Types | Speed Class |
---|---|---|---|
4 GB | 64 GB | microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC | Class 10 (or higher) is required |
SD/microSD cards can be purchased from Garmin or other retailers.
SD memory cards wear out after they are overwritten a large number of times.
- Your device detects memory card errors automatically and alerts you when it is time to format or replace your memory card.
To help extend the useful life of your SD card, Garmin recommends the following:
Back up saved footage and format the memory card at least once every 6 months.
Transferring saved footage, see your device's Owner's Manual.
Replace the memory card periodically due to the dash camera recording continuously.
Turn off the device when your vehicle is not in use to prevent the dash camera from recording unneeded footage.
Use a memory card with a higher storage capacity.
Higher-capacity memory cards are overwritten less frequently and will usually last longer.
Use a high-quality memory card with a speed rating of class 10 or higher.
Purchase your replacement memory card from a high-quality manufacturer and a reputable vendor.
