Vector 3 Software Mismatch Error Message
If your connected head unit is displaying a software mismatch error message while connected to your Vector 3 power meter pedals, the issue is due to the software version of each pedal not being the same. When this issue occurs you will not receive power data from the pedals.
Normally the left pedal will automatically update a linked right pedal if the left's software version is greater than the right's, but there are certain scenarios that may prevent this from occurring. A software mismatch error can occur if:
Right pedal is newer than the left pedal:
If you originally purchased a Vector 3S and later purchased a Vector 3S Upgrade Pedal they may have different software versions at first.
Right pedal took more than 30 seconds to wake up after rotating the cranks:
The left pedal will only attempt to send a software update to the right pedal for the first 30 seconds after being woken up. After that it will not make any additional attempt to send an update until the pedals wake up next time.
Step 1: Link the Pedals
Ensure the left pedal is linked to the right pedal. Use the Garmin Connect app or a compatible Edge device to determine that the Right ID matches the one marked on the right pedal:
Compare the Right Pedal ID shown in Sensor Details with the one marked on the Right Pedal.
Step 2: Reboot the Pedals
Automatic Reboot
First try to allow the pedals to reboot automatically.
Let the pedals fall asleep
Wake the pedals up by doing a 180 degree turn on the cranks.
The left pedal will start blinking red/green as it looks for the right pedal to send the software update.
The right pedal will blink 3 green blinks indicating that it is looking for the left pedal.
The right pedal will switch to blinking red/green when it connects to the left pedal and the left pedal starts transferring the software update to the right pedal.
When the update is complete the right pedal will reboot.
Both pedals will re-connect and will be up to date.
Reboot Pedals Manually
If allowing the pedals to reboot automatically did not resolve the error message issue, reboot the pedals manually.
Remove the pedals from the bike.
Place the pedals beside each other.
Remove the battery covers of both pedals.
Re-insert the battery cover of the right pedal.
Re-insert the battery cover of the left pedal.
