Using ClimbPro in Tacx Apps
The Tacx Training™ app and Tacx Training™ desktop app feature a ClimbPro widget, which is recognizable from compatible Edge® cycling computers and watches. The ClimbPro ascent planner is designed to help a rider manage effort during a ride in the following ways:
The feature gives you as a user a detailed overview before and during the climb.
When you have completed the climb, you will see relevant climb data in a overview.
How Does It Work?
The ClimbPro feature is designed to help riders manage their efforts on significant climbs, not to detect every uphill section during a ride. ClimbPro uses a scoring system to categorize climbs where the climb score equals the length of the climb (meters) multiplied by grade (%).
To classify as a climb, the following criteria must be met:
The climb score must be a minimum of 1,500.
A climb must be a minimum of 500 meters in length.
The average gradient must be a minimum of 3%.
Tacx Training App
A preview of the climb will be shown 250 meters before the start, and will show the climb profile, average gradient, location of the climb on the course, and the total ascent. Once you reach the base of the climb the screen will show the ClimbPro widget along with the Slope widget. The app will show a Go! notification as soon as the climb starts. The combination of the expanded overview of the climb and the magnified in-slope widget gives you more control over your performance for both the upcoming meters and the next kilometers.
After the review of the climb is shown you will return to the screen that you used before the climb. To enable or disable this feature:
Select Settings.
Select Training Settings.
Toggle ClimbPro on or off.
Tacx Training Desktop App
The Tacx Training desktop app functions in a similar fashion to the Tacx Training app, but the ClimbPro widget is shown on the same screen as the other widgets instead of a separate screen. In addition to the ClimbPro widget, the Tacx Desktop App also shows the elevation plot for the entire ride at the bottom of the screen. This shows the full course with all detected climbs represented as orange lines below your course progress. Together, the slope widget and the climb widget allow you to track every detail of every climb.
To enable or disable this feature:
Select Settings.
Select Training Settings.
Select Dynamic (On) or Static (Off) for the Climb Widget.
What Do the Colors Mean?
The colors indicate the gradient of the climb in the following ways:
In the climb preview, the colors indicate the overall average gradient for the climb.
On the individual climb widget, the colors indicate the detailed gradient for each section.
