Troubleshooting the GlobalSat BU-353 GPS Receiver
Follow the instructions below if a DeLorme® program freezes or if the computer displays a Stop Error (Blue Screen) when used with the GlobalSat BU-353 GPS.
Note: Before proceeding with the instructions below ensure the BU-353 is the only serial device connected to your computer and that the driver for the device has been installed. Click here for instructions for installing the GlobalSat BU-353 driver.
Use GpsGate Splitter for Windows
IMPORTANT
GpsGate is third-party software and is not developed, maintained or released by DeLorme or DeLorme Technical Support. DeLorme Technical Support cannot assist with any errors or issues you may encounter during the download, installation, operation, or removal of this program.
- Ensure the DeLorme software is closed and the BU-353 GPS device is the only serial device connected to your computer.
- Click here to visit the download site for GpsGate Splitter for Windows.
- Scroll down to GpsGate Splitter and click Download GpsGate Splitter.
Note: Do not download GpsGate Server, GpsGate Tracker for Android, or any other GpsGate products. - When the download finishes, run the GpsGateClient.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions to install GpsGate to your computer.
- Double-click the Franson GpsGate 2.6 icon on your desktop.
- Ensure the Search for NMEA compatible serial devices option is selected and click Next.
Note: GpsGate will start to search for a GPS. This process can take several seconds. - After the search completes click Yes.
- Ensure the I want to share my GPS between several applications option is selected and click Next.
- The GpsGate software will assign multiple COM Ports for the BU-353. Write down or note the numbers of the COM Ports listed and click Finish.
- Open the DeLorme software.
- Within the DeLorme application, choose Options at the top of the software and then the GPS tab.
- Select Generic NMEA for the device and then one of the COM Ports that were listed in step 9.
Note: If the COM port is not shown, restart the DeLorme Software and try again. - Click OK and start and test the GPS within the software.
