My Approach G10, S10, or S20 Is Not Recognized by the Computer

Mass storage devices appear as drives on your computer, allowing easy access to data on the device and to be recognized by Garmin programs. Occasionally, an Approach® G10 golf handheld, or Approach® S10 or S20 golf watch may not appear as a drive. The following steps can be performed to get the device to be recognized.

Forcing Device Connection With Computer

  1. Ensure device battery is fully charged.
  2. Disconnect the device from the computer.
  3. Power the device off.
  4. Press and hold the OK button.
  5. Plug the device into computer while continuing to hold the OK button.
  6. Wait until device is recognized by computer.
    NOTE: This may take up to 30 seconds.
  7. If prompted, install USB device drivers.
  8. Release the OK button.
  9. Upload scorecards and download available updates with Garmin Express™.
