How to View Marine Map Details on the Descent Mk2 Series

In order to view Marine mapping you have loaded to your Descent™ Mk2 series watch, you will need to enable the Marine Map theme and disable other mapping installed to the watch. Follow the instructions below in order to make sure that your watch is properly set to display marine mapping.

NOTE: TopoActive mapping will have limited Marine data. LakeVü ™ and BlueChart® mapping can be purchased for additional coverage. See Wearables Mapping


Enabling the Marine Map Theme

  1. Hold Up/Menu to enter the Main Menu.
  2. Select Activities & Apps.
  3. Select Map.
  4. Select Map Settings.
  5. Select Map.
  6. Select Map Theme.
  7. Select Marine.

Your theme should now be set to Marine as shown below.

Disabling Other Maps

  1. Hold Up/Menu to enter the Main Menu
  2. Select Activities & Apps
  3. Select Map
  4. Select Map Settings
  5. Select Map
  6. Select Configure Maps
  7. Disable non-Marine Maps except for the one labeled Worldwide DEM Basemap, NR 

In the below images, you can see that the LakeVu map is enabled with its status indicator showing green, and the TopoActive mapping is disabled with its status indicator being gray.

Marine Map Details Shown

What information the map displays is based on your watch's zoom level. Below are examples of what information will display based on the level of zoom.
Example of 20KM ScaleAt a scale of 20km, bodies of water are visible, but no details.
Example of 12KM ScaleAt a scale of 12km, names of bodies of water are visible, but no details.
Example of 5KM ScaleAt a scale of 5km, depth markers start to be visible.
Example of 3KM ScaleAt a scale of 3km, shoreline contours are visible.
Example of 1.2KM ScaleAt a scale of 1.2km, both depth markers, and shoreline contours are present.
Example of 800M ScaleAt a scale of 800m, the most detailed version of shoreline contours are present.
