Calibrating the Astro 320 Barometric Altimeter

Before taking your Astro® 320 dog tracking handheld out or if you are simply noticing elevation information is inaccurate, it is recommended to calibrate1 your altimeter sensor.

Always calibrate the altimeter outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Calibrating the Astro 320

  1. Open the Main Menu
  2. Select Setup
  3. Select Altimeter
  4. Select Calibrate Altimeter
  5. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete calibration

Note: Garmin's outdoor devices are designed as recreational GPS devices, as an aid to navigation. They should not be used for any activity requiring precise measurements, such as surveying or weather prediction.

While calibrating to a known elevation can be accurate to +/-50 feet, calibration by GPS is accurate to +/-400 feet.
