How to Install Software and Map Updates to My D2 Mach 1

D2 Mach 1 software should be kept up-to-date in order to take advantage of improvements and bug fixes. Updates are free, and easy to install. Software updates can be installed through the Garmin Connect app. Software, map, and CourseView updates can be installed through Garmin Express. You can also add or remove maps directly from the watch while connected to Wi-Fi (see - Using Map Manager on Garmin Watches for more details).

NOTE: This FAQ is not for aviation maps and charts. For information on updating those, refer to your owner's manual and Garmin Aviation Product Support.

Garmin Connect App

The Garmin Connect app will only download software updates automatically behind the scenes while your watch is connected to your mobile phone. There are no steps required to obtain the latest software. Once an update has been sent to the watch, the watch will automatically install the update, or prompt the user for further action. Select your mobile app platform below to download Garmin Connect.

Garmin Express

Garmin Express provides the ability to check for software automatically each time the watch is connected to a computer. For information on downloading and installing Garmin Express, see - How Do I Install Garmin Express?

Updating the D2 Mach 1 Software Through Garmin Express

If this is your first time using a computer with your watch, you will need to download and install Garmin Express™ software.

1. Connect your watch to your computer with the USB charging cable.
2. Launch Garmin Express program.
3. Select your watch.

4. Garmin Express will then display the available updates. Select Install or Install All.
   • Review and accept any prompts for Terms and Conditions or Important Notes.
5. Once complete, disconnect your watch from the computer and the watch will ask if you want to Install Now or Install Tonight. If you do not receive this prompt, or if you select "install tonight", you can still access the update from the System menu on the watch:
   1. From the main menu on the watch, select or scroll to Settings.
   2. Select System.
   3. Select Software Update.
   4. Select Update Available.

After the watch has installed the update, it will be ready to use.

Updating and Managing Maps on an Outdoor Watch in Garmin Express

If this is your first time using a computer with your watch, you will need to download and install Garmin Express™ software.

1. Connect your watch to your computer with the USB charging cable.
2. Launch Garmin Express program.
3. Select your watch.

4. Select Manage Maps.
5. Choose the map type.
6. Find the map you want to update:
   • Add a checkmark in the box next to the map to download.
   • Remove the checkmark in the box next to the map to delete.
7. Select Apply Changes.
8. Complete any additional prompts.

After the watch has applied the changes, it will be ready to use.
