Customizing Data Fields on an eTrex Series Handheld

Data fields on the Map, Compass, Trip Computer, and Altimeter/Elevation Plot pages can be customized to show different data on eTrex® series outdoor handhelds.

Changing Data Fields

For steps to customize individual data fields or add a dashboard with data fields, choose your model series below.

eTrex 10, 20, 20x, 30, or 30x

For a list and description of available data fields on the eTrex 10, 20, 20x, 30, or 30x, view the owner's manual.

Customizing Data Fields on the Compass, Trip Computer, or Elevation Plot Page

NOTE: The elevation plot is available only with the eTrex 30 and 30x devices.

  1. Open the page for which you will change the data fields.

  2. Press Menu.

  3. Select Change Data Fields.

  4. Select a data field to change.

  5. Choose an option.

  6. Press Back when you are finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.

Customizing Data Fields on the Map Page

  1. While viewing the Map page, press Menu.

  2. Select Setup Map.

  3. Select Data Fields, then select an option:

    • 1 large.

    • 2 small.

    • 4 small.

    • Dashboard: Allows you to choose from a list of themed dashboards with preselected data. The data displayed in these dashboards cannot be customized.

    • Custom: Allows you to choose different data field layouts for When Navigating and When Not Navigating.

  4. Press Back to return to the Map page.

  5. Press Menu.

  6. Select Change Data Fields.

  7. Select a data field to change.

  8. Choose an option.

  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for any additional fields you wish to change.

  10. Press Back when you are finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.

eTrex 22x or 32x

Customizing Data Fields on the Compass, Trip Computer, or Elevation Plot Page

NOTE: The elevation plot is available only with the eTrex 32x devices.

  1. Open the page for which you will change the data fields.

  2. Press Menu.

  3. Select Change Data Fields.

  4. Select a data field to change.

  5. Choose an option.

  6. Press Back when you are finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.

Customizing Data Fields on the Map Page

  1. While viewing the Map page, press Menu.

  2. Select Setup Map.

  3. Select Data Fields, then select an option:

    • 1 large.

    • 2 small.

    • 4 small.

    • Dashboard: Allows you to choose from a list of themed dashboards with preselected data. The data displayed in these dashboards cannot be customized.

    • Custom: Allows you to choose different data field layouts for When Navigating and When Not Navigating.

  4. Press Back to return to the Map page.

  5. Press Menu.

  6. Select Change Data Fields.

  7. Select a data field to change.

  8. Choose an option.

  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for any additional fields you wish to change.

  10. Press Back when you are finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.

eTrex SE and eTrex Solar

For a list and description of available data fields on the eTrex SE or eTrex Solar, view the owner's manual.

Customizing Data Fields on the Map or Compass Page

  1. From the main menu, select Tracking.

  2. Press Up Button or Down Button to scroll to the Map or Compass page.

  3. Press OK to open the options menu.

  4. Select Edit Data Fields.

    • If this is not available, select Change Dashboard > Large Data Field or Small Data Fields, then press OK again to return to the options menu.

      NOTE: Compass, Geocache, and Stopwatch dashboards are also available, but these dashboards cannot be customized.

  5. Select a data field you wish to change.

  6. Select an option from the list.

  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for an additional field you wish to change.

  8. Press Back Arrow when finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.

Customizing Data Fields on the Trip Computer Page

  1. From the main menu, select Tracking.

  2. Press Up Button or Down Button to scroll to the Trip Computer page.

  3. Press OK to open the options menu.

  4. Select an option:

    • Edit Data Fields: Select a data field to change, then select an option from the list.

    • Change Dashboard: This option changes what is displayed in the top quarter of any Trip Computer page. Large Data Field and Small Data Fields are the only dashboards with editable data fields.

    • More Options: Choose from the following options.

      • More Data: Adds additional data fields to the trip computer.

      • Less Data: Removes data fields from the trip computer.

      • Insert Page: Inserts an additional page of customizable data fields.

        NOTE: The top quarter of the page will display the same data on all pages. The lower three quarters of each page can be customized individually.

      • Remove Page: Removes an additional page of customizable data fields.

  5. Press Back Arrow when finished. Your changes will be saved automatically.
