Installing the Latest Software to the Garmin Speed Sensor 2

When a software update is released for the Speed Sensor 2, there are two ways that the update can be installed.

Method #1: From a Paired Garmin Device

Below is a chronological order of the events related to a software update being released and installed from a paired Garmin device.

  1. A software update is released for your sensor.

  2. When paired, the device will read the sensor software version and report this information when it syncs with either the Garmin Connect app, or Garmin Express.

  3. Either app will recognize that an update is available for your sensor and download it to your Edge or watch.

  4. You will be prompted to install the update the next time the sensor connects to your device. This prompt may be delayed if you have started an activity. In some instances you will have the option to install the update later as well. Dismissed updates can manually be installed from the sensor menu of your device while the sensor is connected.

    • NOTE: It is important to keep the sensor in range of your paired device while the software update is being installed.

There is not a manual way to check for a software update for the sensor.

Method #2: Garmin Connect App

When you pair the sensor to the Garmin Connect app, the app will check for and offer to install a software update. This update will be prompted during the initial pairing process. For help with pairing see: Pairing the Speed Sensor With Your Smartphone.

There is not a manual way to check for a software update for your sensor using the app.
