Converting an Unsaved File to a Saved File in Garmin Dash Cam Player
Note: New downloads of Garmin's Dash Cam Player software have been discontinued. This means that Garmin no longer offers a desktop application that supports the management of your device's video files; however, many common third-party programs exist which can fulfill this purpose. Some are usually built into the computer (such as Windows Media Player and QuickTime) and others (such as VLC Media Player) can be found online.
When you connect a compatible Garmin device to the Garmin Dash Cam Player, the files on the microSD card inside the device will be displayed under the Unsaved tab. Until these files are saved, they are being accessed directly from the microSD card inside the Garmin device.
To convert an unsaved file to a saved file:
- Open the Garmin Dash Cam Player
- Connect a compatible Garmin device
- Only the Garmin Dash Cam series, dēzlCam™ LMTHD, nūviCam™ LMTHD, and Garmin DriveAssist™ 50LMT are compatible with the Garmin Dash Cam Player.
- Click on the Unsaved tab at the top of Garmin Dash Cam Player
- Click on the video file that you want to save
- It may take several minutes for Unsaved videos to import into the Garmin Dash Cam Player once a device is connected.
- Click on File in the menu bar
- Click on Convert to Saved File
The selected file will now be saved in the Garmin Dash Cam Player. The file can now be viewed from the Saved tab with or without the Garmin device connected.
