Sharing Your Garmin Connect Data With Apple Health

If you enable sharing, Apple Health can receive the following data from your Garmin Connect™ account:

NOTICE: The Garmin Connect™ app cannot receive any data from Apple Health or an Apple Watch. Data sent to Apple Health also depends on what options are enabled in Health and what types of data are supported by the connected Garmin device.

  • Active Energy

  • Body Fat Percentage

  • Body Mass Index

  • Flights Climbed

  • Heart Rate

    • All-day heart rate recorded by your Garmin watch will be displayed in Apple Health. Time activities however, will only display high and low heart rate values. This may result in heart rate graphs for activities from Connect showing as "Chart Unavailable" in the Apple Activity app.

  • Resting Energy

  • Sleep Analysis

  • Steps

  • Walking + Running Distance

  • Water

  • Weight

  • Workouts (activities uploaded to Garmin Connect)

    • Any associated GPS track will NOT be written to Apple Health

Once Garmin Connect sharing is enabled in Apple Health, data will begin syncing to the Apple Health app after each successful device sync with the Garmin Connect app.

I Have Enabled Data from Garmin Connect to Be Shared But It Is Not Appearing in the Apple Health App

Data will only be sent to Apple Health while the Garmin Connect app is open in the foreground. If the app is closed or sent to the background, the transfer of data to Apple Health will not complete until a successful sync of the device while the Garmin Connect app is open.

Apple Health can also allow multiple sources to update your health data. When multiple sources are available, only one data source will be chosen based on the priority order listed in the Apple Health app. If you notice that your Garmin Connect data is not appearing in Apple Health but you have enabled sharing, you may need to update the priority of data sources so that Garmin Connect is first priority. For instructions refer to this Apple Support article: Prioritize data sources in Apple Health.

My Rings Are Not Updating in the Apple Health App

Movement rings are only presented in the Apple Health app if you had an Apple watch paired at one point in time. If you are now using a Garmin product to share data with Apple Health the rings will stop updating. The only way to update the movement rings in Apple Health is to sync an Apple Watch. For more information on Apple Health and the movement rings, contact Apple support
