Issues Downloading TrailForks Map Updates to an Edge Cycling Computer

Select Edge® models come preloaded with free TrailForks maps. These maps can be updated using Garmin Express, but the maps must be unlocked with a Trailforks account before they can be updated.

Edge Models With Preloaded TrailForks Maps

• Edge® 530 Mountain Bike Bundle

• Edge® 540 | Edge® 540 Solar

• Edge® 830 Mountain Bike Bundle

• Edge® 840 | Edge® 840 Solar

• Edge® 1030 Plus

• Edge® 1040 | Edge® 1040 Solar

• Edge® 1050

If you receive the message "An error occurred while installing the update" this usually indicates that the TrailForks maps haven't been unlocked yet. To unlock the TrailForks maps:

1. Power on the Edge.

2. Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone and ensure that the Edge is connected.

3. Open the Connect IQ menu of the Edge.

   • Edge 530/540: access the Menu then select Connect IQ.

   • Edge 830/1030 Plus: tap "IQ" on the home screen.

   • Edge 840/1040: select then select Connect IQ.

   • Edge 1050: Select .

4. Select TrailForks.

5. You will now be prompted to open the Garmin Connect app on your phone.

6. On your phone, you will receive a prompt to authorize TrailForks.

7. Select Authorize and follow the prompts on your phone to create a TrailForks account or sign in to an existing TrailForks account.

8. On the Edge, return to the TrailForks app and open the app settings:

   • Edge 530/540: press and hold (top right)

   • Edge 830/840/1030 Plus/1040/1050: select

9. Login (if prompted), then select Unlock Map.
