Error "ECU Drive Circuit Overload" on a GHP autopilot
The "ECU Drive Circuit Overload" is a message that can appear on a GHP autopilot when the ECU is exceeding the programmed limitations while moving the pump. This issue usually occurs because of restrictions in the hydraulic hoses that are causing the pump and ECU to work too hard to move fluid.
Follow these steps to try to correct the issue:
Make sure all GHP software is up to date (see related content)
Remove any bulkhead fittings, 90 degree connections, or any other hydraulic connections that could restrict fluid flow
Move the pump as close as possible to the steering cylinder
If the GHP continues to display this error after attempting the above steps, take photographs of the entire hydraulic system on the vessel from helm to cylinder, as well as send detailed information about the steering system to Marine Product Support.
