Why Am I Locked Out From Selecting a Gas Dive?

If you are locked out from selecting a gas dive on your dive computer, it indicates you had performed a gauge dive recently. After performing a gauge dive activity, your dive computer will only be able to perform either a gauge or apnea dive for 24 hours after ending the dive. This is because a gauge dive does not track your residual tissue load, which is needed to provide accurate information for subsequent dives. Due to this, you will need to wait for the timer to complete before selecting a gas dive.

NOTE: Performing another gauge dive will reset the 24-hour timer.

Auto Dive Start

Garmin dive computers will automatically start a dive once you have reached 4 feet of depth, using the most recently used dive mode and settings. If you last interacted with the gauge dive activity, the dive computer will use that dive profile when the dive auto starts. To avoid accidentally interacting with gauge mode, it can be removed from your activities list by searching, "Adding or Removing a Favorite Activity" in your owner's manual and following the instructions. We recommend selecting your desired dive activity prior to starting any dive to ensure you are using your preferred settings and allow the dive computer to record an entry location.

Gauge Mode Lock Out Message

When you select the gauge dive activity on your dive computer it will prompt you with the following message so you are aware of the 24-hour lockout. The message below is shown on a Descent™ G1 dive watch, but the wording is the same on any dive computer.
