How to Get the Most Battery Life Out of Your Garmin Music Watch

There are several factors that can affect battery life of your watch. As with all Garmin products for the active lifestyle this includes:

  • How much GPS is used for outdoor recorded activities

  • Wrist heart rate

  • Backlight usage

  • A smartphone connection

There are other factors that also affect battery life1, but with the products that play music, there are new considerations.

Wi-Fi Use When Syncing Music

When you sync playlists from third-party music providers, your watch connects via Wi-Fi, which uses a lot of power. The longer the Wi-Fi connection is active, the more power is consumed, so we recommend that when syncing playlists your watch be located as close as possible to the Wi-Fi hotspot to which it is connected. When the watch is close to the hotspot the data is delivered more reliably and more quickly. This means you get the benefit of downloading your music faster while using less battery life. It can be beneficial to charge the watch while it is syncing music via Wi-Fi.

Turn Off Your Headphones When Not in Use

Besides during music playback, your watch also uses power from the battery to maintain the connection to your Bluetooth headphones for about half an hour after you have stopped listening to music. Therefore, to conserve power, it is recommended that when you do not plan to listen to music you turn off your headphones so they disconnect from your watch.
