Automotive Device Routes off of Highways and Through Small Side Roads
This could be the result of a navigational setting on the device that needs to be adjusted.
This Video is a Quick and Easy way to Learn About Navigation Settings on Your Device.
If the device's route preference or calculation mode is set to Shorter Distance, this may cause the device to guide you off of a highway in order to navigate a more direct route. Setting the route preference to Faster Time may make a difference in how the device calculates a route.
Another setting that can be adjusted on the device is the avoidances. If highways or motorways are checked, then the device will avoid them when calculating a route.
To Check Your Device's Navigation Settings:
- Touch Tools
- Skip this step on some devices
- Touch Settings
- Touch Navigation
- After this step, some devices require you to touch Automobile or Car, then nuRoute
- Ensure that the Route Preference or Calculation Mode is set to Faster Time or Turn-by-Turn
- Some devices require you to touch the back button or arrow
- Touch Avoidances
- Select only the options you would like to avoid
- Touch OK or Save
Once the settings are set accordingly, the device should now route on the highways.
