This Video is a Quick and Easy way to Learn About Charging Your Device

Verify the Device is Getting Power

 1. Plug your device into the vehicle with its original Garmin vehicle power cable, pictured below with a green checkmark

    • Make sure there is nothing between your vehicle power cable and your vehicle's power outlet, such as a splitter or other charging accessory
    • Do not use a USB cable, pictured with a red symbol below

2. Turn the vehicle's power on
3. Check the light on the vehicle end of the power cable and make sure it is lit up white

4. Ensure there is nothing other than a Garmin Dash Cam connected to the USB power port on the mount

Reset the Device

A soft reset can force your device to reboot if the device will not power on or the screen is frozen.

To Perform a Soft Reset:

  1. Connect the device to a power source with its car charger cable
    • An A/C adapter may also be used.
    • The car charger cable will need to be used if the problem persists.
  2. Press and hold the power button and slowly count to 30

The device should now turn on. Leave the device connected to power to give the battery time to charge.

Why is This Happening?

An issue where your Garmin device will not turn on, is frozen, has a dead battery, or has a black screen can have several different causes:

Dead Battery

  • A device will not turn on if it has an empty or "dead" battery
  • This can be resolved by charging the battery

Environment

Software Problem

  • The device may have run into a software "bug," "glitch," or another problem if the device "freezes" on a single screen and will not respond to your touch.
  • Since all electronic devices do a large number of tasks and calculations every second, it is always possible for the device to get stuck at one point or another while in use.
  • This problem may be solved with a software update.
