inReach Consumer Enabled Plan Explained

The Enabled plan includes unlimited SOS and messaging with the Garmin Response™ team, but pay-as-you-go pricing for other features to provide a way of keeping an inReach® device active and ready for use in an emergency situation at a low monthly cost.

When choosing the Enabled a plan, there are some important things to consider:

  • If you choose to change to a higher plan later, you will not be charged another activation fee.

  • Additional charges apply to sending, receiving, and reacting to messages (outside of using SOS).

  • Additional charges apply to sending tracking points.

  • Additional charges apply to weather forecasts.

NOTE: Pricing is provided in USD/CAD. When activating or changing your plan, pricing for your specific region will be displayed.

How Do I Purchase and Activate the Enabled Plan?

If you have not yet activated a subscription for your inReach satellite communicator, follow the steps in this FAQ and select the Enabled plan when you are prompted to select a plan:


How Can I Change My Current Subscription to the Enabled Plan?

You can make changes to your inReach plan by signing into the account at Garmin.com and following the steps below.4

If your inReach subscription is suspended upon reaching your next annual renewal date, the plan will be automatically migrated into the Enabled plan. For more details, see - inReach Freedom Plan Migration.

  1. Log in to the Subscription Portal: https://www.garmin.com/account/subscriptions/

    • When signed into your account at Garmin.com, the Subscription Portal can also be accessed by selecting Account Profile Icon in the top right corner of the page, then Account. From there select Subscriptions & Service Plans on the left of the page.

  2. Select MANAGE on the inReach subscription you want to update.

  3. Select CHANGE PLAN if your inReach plan is currently active, or REACTIVATE PLAN if your plan is currently suspended.

  4. If prompted, follow the steps to complete verification of your email address.

  5. Select SELECT THIS PLAN for the INREACH ENABLED plan.

    NOTE: If you currently have an inReach Freedom or inReach Annual Contract subscription plan, select NEW PLANS, then select SELECT THIS PLAN for the INREACH ENABLED plan.

  6. Check the box to agree to automatic renewal, review the plan details and terms and conditions, then select ACCEPT & CONTINUE.

  7. Select CONTINUE after reviewing the details about your next bill.

  8. Select COMPLETE PLAN CHANGE.


1 Message reactions are done by pressing and holding on a message in the Garmin Messenger™ app and selecting an emoji. Composed messages that include one or more emojis within the text of the message will still be impacted by per-message character limits as described in Character Limits of inReach Text Messages.

2 The inReach Messenger Plus satellite communicator is currently the only device that has the ability to send and receive photo and voice messages over the Iridium satellite network. For more details, see - Sending a Photo or Voice Message With the Garmin Messenger App.

4 You can also make changes to your inReach subscription through the Garmin Messenger app or the Earthmate® app, depending on what model of inReach device you have.
