Connect Smartphone Link to my Compatible Kenwood Device
In order for the Garmin Smartphone Link to work with the Kenwood device, your Kenwood software must be up to date and the Application Link setup must be changed to the type of phone you are using, iPhone or Android.
To update the Kenwood software visit Kenwood's support page.
To Change the Application Link Setup:
- Ensure your phone is paired with your Kenwood device.
- Consult your Kenwood Owner’s Manual on Kenwood’s site for instructions on pairing your mobile phone to your Kenwood device.
- While talking on a paired phone you are not able to access the Kenwood menu.
- From the main menu touch Standby.
- Touch Setup.
- Touch Source.
- Touch App Setup.
- Touch Change.
- Select iPhone or Android/Other.
- Touch Next.
- Select Bluetooth.
- Touch Next.
- Select your phone.
- Touch Next.
- Touch Done.
The Application Link on the Kenwood device should now be set to Bluetooth.
If the Smartphone Link is still not communicating with your Kenwood ensure that the Smartphone Link profile is on in the Kenwood’s Bluetooth settings.
To Confirm the Smartphone Link Profile is on:
- Ensure your phone has the Smartphone Link app installed.
- From the main menu of the Kenwood, touch Setup.
- Touch Bluetooth.
- Select your phone.
- Find Smartphone Link and touch ON.
The Smartphone Link profile should now be on.
