Using a Titleist RCT Ball With the Approach R10
The Garmin Approach® R10 launch monitor will support use of the Titleist RCT ball. Titleist RCT balls feature embedded radar reflective technology and are designed to enhance data capture for indoor conditions. When hitting a Titleist RCT ball, a minimum distance of 8 feet from the net is required.
Benefits of Using an RCT Ball
Titleist RCT balls use Radar Capture Technology to improve indoor distance accuracy and more effectively measure spin rate. With a minimum of at least 2 full rotations, the RCT ball has a 99% signal capture rate, delivering true spin rate capture versus an estimate.
What Is Needed?
- Approach R10 monitor on the latest software
Installing the Latest Updates for Your Approach R10 - Use a Titleist RCT ball
- Distance of at least 8 feet from the tee to the net
- 2 rotations of the ball in flight before it hits the net to get most reliable results
Getting The Best Results
The distance from tee to net, ball speed, and how fast the ball is spinning affect the Approach R10 monitor’s ability to measure the spin rate. While at least 2 full rotations of the ball are needed before it hits the net to get the most reliable results, it is possible for the Approach R10 monitor to measure spin with fewer than 2 rotations. However, if there was not enough spin for signal capture, the Approach R10 monitor will estimate spin. At minimum you will need 8 feet from tee to net, but may need additional range up to 20 feet. The examples below can help determine if your Approach R10 monitor is showing an estimate, and the distance needed to capture at least 2 rotations.
