Navigating to a Waypoint on the eTrex Legend
The eTrex Legend® outdoor handheld guides you to a waypoint using a 'Goto' (meaning going to a destination).
Starting Navigation With Goto
- Press the FIND button to display the Find menu.
- Use the THUMB STICK to highlight 'Waypoints' and then press it in.
- Use the THUMB STICK to highlight 'Nearest' and then press it in.
- Use the THUMB STICK to highlight the waypoint and then press it in to display the information page.
- With the on-screen 'Goto' button highlighted, press the THUMB STICK in to activate the Goto navigation feature.
Navigation Page Basics
The Navigation page provides active guidance with a rotating compass ring that shows your course over ground (track) while you are moving and a bearing point to indicate the current direction to your destination (bearing) relative to the course over ground.
The Status window at the top of the page shows you the name of your destination, the distance, and the time to go. Two data fields are provided, and can be programmed to display a variety of navigation data.
The bent (bearing) pointer arrow alerts you to an upcoming turn while you are navigating a route. When you get within 15 seconds ETA of the current point, the pointer "bends" to indicate the direction of the turn to the next point while still showing the direction of the current point.
Stopping Navigation
- While viewing Map page or Navigation page, use the THUMB STICK to highlight
, then press in on the the THUMB STICK to open the options menu.
- Use the THUMB STICK to highlight 'Stop Navigation' and then press it in.
