Sending a Message with the Garmin Explore App

The Garmin Explore™ app can be paired and used with a compatible inReach® device to send messages to SMS numbers and email addresses that are either saved as contacts in the phone, saved directly in the app, or manually entered.

IMPORTANT: The Garmin Explore app must be paired and connected to an inReach device to send a message. The message icon appears once the inReach device is paired and has an active subscription.

Sending a Message Using the Garmin Explore App

1. Open the Garmin Explore app.

2. Touch  Messages on the bottom of the app.
   

   • NOTE: If you are using a compatible device with the Garmin Messenger™ app, selecting  will take you into the Garmin Messenger app. For more details on using the Garmin Messenger app, see - Contacts and Sending Messages With the Garmin Messenger App.

3. Touch .

4. Select or type the desired recipient using one of the available methods:

   • Select (iOS) or (Android) to select one of your saved inReach contacts. From this page you can also select to create a new contact or import system contacts.

   • Tap the To: field, begin typing a contact name, then select the direct contact method from the list that appears.

   • Tap the To: field and manually enter a phone number, email address, or inReach address.

5. Repeat step 4 for any additional recipient(s) you wish to add to the message.

6. Compose the message.

7. Select to send the message.
