Vehicle Number or VIN in the Garmin eLog App

When logging into the Garmin eLog™ app, you will be asked to confirm your vehicle by entering the complete VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and the CMV ID (Commercial Motor Vehicle ID).

If the Garmin eLog™ Compliant ELD has been properly installed, some vehicles will relay the VIN to the app automatically. If the VIN is not automatically entered, enter the VIN manually ensuring the letters are capitalized. Rebuilt engines may return a VIN that the Garmin eLog App thinks is valid however, it could be the previous VIN. If this occurs, the Garmin eLog app must not allow edits to be made to the VIN and the engine will need to be serviced to correct this.
