Requesting Weather Forecasts With the Garmin Explore App
When the Garmin Explore™ app is paired to a compatible inReach® satellite communicator with an active subscription, it is able to request weather forecasts to be delivered back to the inReach® device and app. Weather forecasts requested through the Garmin Explore app will automatically include both premium/extended forecast data and marine forecast data, if available, whenever a new forecast is requested.

Important Notes
Some inReach devices that are compatible with the Garmin Explore app may have separate options for Basic, Premium/Extended, or Marine weather forecasts when requesting a forecast from the device rather than the app. Basic weather forecasts previously counted as one text message each, and there were additional fees for extended and marine weather forecasts. All types of inReach weather forecasts now count as one text message each towards your monthly plan allotment. A marine forecast will be included for locations on an ocean or other large body of water, if available. If you are unable to get a marine forecast, select a location further from shore. If no marine forecast is available, you may see a Marine Forecast Failed message on your connected inReach device.
Requesting weather forecasts is only available when the Garmin Explore app is connected to a device loaded with the latest firmware version. If you do not have an option for Weather in the app, use the Garmin Express™ program to ensure your device is up to date.
Requesting a Weather Forecast
Open the Garmin Explore app, and ensure your inReach device is powered on and connected with the Garmin Explore app.
Select
Devices.Select Weather under inReach Features.
If you are also using a compatible inReach device with the Garmin Messenger™ app, selecting Weather will take you into the Garmin Messenger app. For more details on using the Garmin Messenger app, see - Requesting Weather Forecasts With the Garmin Messenger App.
Select + or Get Forecast.
OPTIONAL: Select Forecast Location to change the location for the weather forecast, then choose an option.
My Location: Sets the forecast to your current location.
Select Waypoint: Select a waypoint from the list when prompted.
Select from Map: Tap a location on the map, then select Save. Enter a name for the location (optional), then select Save again.
Select Get Forecast.
Once weather has been received, the page will update with the weather.
