Enablement Set Up for the GI 275

IMPORTANT/WARNING/NOTICE: The addition of feature enablements in certified aircraft installations must be completed by qualified personnel. Garmin strongly encourages this work be completed by a Garmin dealer with full access to all installation and maintenance information. This guidance has been provided to assist with the process.

For the Dealer:

  1. Visit the flyGarmin.com® website and sign in using valid DRC credentials. Once signed in, a Dealer option will be available in the top of the page. Click this link to access Feature Enablements. Note that valid DRC credentials are all that are required to access this page, so a different technician or service center can access the feature enablement downloads for a particular System ID as needed.

  2. Enter the appropriate System ID, and click “Search” to display the feature enablements available to download for the System ID entered. Select the feature enablements you wish to download, and click “Launch App” to open the Garmin Aviation Database Manager.  The app will then load each enablement onto a USB Flash Drive. Note that each feature enablement can be downloaded again as needed, so it is not necessary to store the feature enablement cards in the aircraft.

  3. Follow the instructions provided by the Garmin Aviation Database Manager. When prompted to insert a USB Flash Drive, Garmin recommends using a compatible blank USB Flash Drive (compatible USB Flash Drives are listed in the system’s installation manual). Note that only one feature enablement can be loaded on a USB Flash Drive at any given time. The Garmin Aviation Database Manager will overwrite any existing feature enablement loaded on a USB Flash Drive prior to loading the feature enablement you have selected.
  4. Enable features on the avionics system using the same process previously utilized with traditional feature enablements (SD cards received by mail). Reference the system’s installation manual for additional guidance on this process. Once all features have been enabled on the system, the SD card with the downloaded feature enablement may be cleared/formatted and repurposed for tasks such as database loading, data logging, etc. Note that traditional feature enablements (SD cards received by mail) already purchased may not be converted to the equivalent downloadable version and should remain with the aircraft. Please contact Garmin aviation product support with any questions.
